Handmade with Love

Welcome! This is a collection of lovingly handcrafted items I have made over the past year. This collection includes pieces that have been knitted, crocheted and felted from wool and other fibres. This collection started with a mild interest that slowly developed into a dedicated hobby. Please enjoy my journey of learning this assortment of skills.

Chikorita

This felt doll was one of the first crafts I ever made. The leaf looks so adorable when it hangs over such a tiny body! I love making Pokemon because of all the interesting shapes I can challenge myself with. The large leaf reminded my grandmother of the Monstera growing in her backyard, which was the first plant she grew when she bought the house. 50 years later, the backyard is littered with flora of all shapes and sizes.

Cyndaquil

Many of my felt doll projects are Pokemon! Cyndaquil is no exception. The flame detail was perfect for recreating with some loose wool and I knew I had to make one right away. This was a gift for a close friend of mine who adores Cyndaquil and I couldn't think of anyone better to give this to.

Cupcake

This is a cupcake for all of the sweet tooths. I've made similar items to this in the past but this one really took the cake! The cherry on top took so many times to get right. When I made this item, I went to my grandmother's the next day and was amazed to find an entire tray of exact edible replicas of my felted treat. I guess she thought it was good enough to eat!

Shawl

This is a knitted shawl made from a wool blend that took me a few months to complete. The sheer effort was entirely worth it when I could finally wear this piece in time for the cold winter months. I love wearing it out in the hopes I can get a compliment on it to justify how much time I spent redoing lines.

Snood

This piece of neckwear is called a 'snood'; a term I was told while I was halfway through completing this project! This snood was knitted for my lovely grandmother who gets very cold at night, so this wool blend will be sure to warm her up when she needs it. It was only fair to give her my first project that I designed myself, since she taught me to knit in the first place!

Haunter

Another Pokemon? That's right! This Haunter is one of my favourite things I've made, both because of how much I love Haunter and because of how adorable it is! Even though this little guy is crocheted, you might notice that the face has been felted on! Talk about mixing mediums!

Catcaron

This sweet kitten is my first time making a doll with bead eyes, which really kicks up the cuteness factor! This one had been on my to-do list for so long itwas such a relief when I finally got around to making it! I considered giving this cutie away as a gift but I couldn't help but keep it for myself.

Chick

You might notice this chick has a keychain attached to its head. Now he can hang out with you on the go! Turning dolls into keychains is a really easy way to turn a cute doll into an accessory. It's a great strategy for giving your dolls as gifts to those friends that think they're too old for toys.
